Breeder Jamie Hough, and her husband Jeff, acquired their first bearded dragon, an 8 week old male named "Sydney" in 2004. They fell in love with Sydney and decided to purchase a mate for him, "Alice", the following spring. Sydney and Alice were the foundation of Valley Dragon Ranch. Jamie and Jeff's collection of dragons continued to grow until it reached over 30 breeding adult bearded dragons at it's peak. Along the way, they experimented with breeding ackie monitors, and also kept a variety of reptiles, including ball pythons, boas, corn snakes, tegus, monitors, tortoises, and more. In 2008, Valley Dragon Ranch became home to the famous "Bert and Ernie". Bert and Ernie were twin dragons that failed to properly separate during development in the egg. As a result, they were born, or hatched, conjoined - with one body and two heads. Bert and Ernie lived with the Hough's for over a year before joining Todd Ray in Venice Beach, CA at the infamous Venice Beach Freak Show. Bert and Ernie are now enjoyed by thousands of curious onlookers and fans. Here are some pictures and video clip of Bert and Ernie in their early days:

In 2008, Jamie and Jeff purchased their first Chinese crested dog. The Hough's children have allergies to dogs, but the low dander, low shedding Chinese crested was a perfect fit for the family. They were impressed by the friendly, outgoing nature of the dog, and it's lack of that typical "doggie odor". The Hough's now own and breed several Chinese cresteds, AKC, CKC, and ACA. In 2009, the Hough's decided that a move was in order so that they could have a little more breathing room for their kids...both human, canine, and reptilian. They made the big move to the country and are now enjoying life on a 10 acre mini-farm. The family added African pygmy goats, emus, chickens, lllamas, and peacocks to Valley Dragon Ranch. Besides dragons and puppies, they occasionally have livestock for sale.
